Lisa Emery is an American actress who acts in plays, movies, and TV shows. She is famous for her role as Darlene Snell in the Netflix series Ozark.

About Lisa Emery's Early Life
Lisa Emery was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1952. Her mother wanted to be an actress, and her father worked in advertising.
Lisa went to Hollins College. She first planned to study painting there. But she soon found drama classes much more fun! After college, she studied acting for a year. Then, she started trying out for roles.
She later moved to New York and continued her acting studies. In 1982, she moved to the East Village neighborhood.
Lisa Emery's Acting Career
Lisa Emery has acted in many plays. Some of her theater roles include Dinner with Friends and The Women. She has been nominated three times for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play. This award celebrates great acting in plays.
She has also appeared in several movies. These include A Map of the World, Unfaithful, and The Night Listener.
On television, Lisa had a regular role on the show Ed. She has also made guest appearances on many popular shows. These include Law & Order, ... and the City, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Jessica Jones. Her main role was as Darlene Snell in the TV series Ozark.
A famous theater critic, Ben Brantley from The New York Times, praised Lisa's acting. He said her performance in a play called A Kind of Alaska was very detailed and moving. Another critic, Charles Isherwood, also from The New York Times, called her a "fine" actress.
In an interview in 2020, Lisa Emery talked about her Ozark character, Darlene Snell. She said she enjoyed how unpredictable Darlene was. Lisa mentioned that she was always surprised by the scripts. She also thought Darlene was a great mother in her own way.

Lisa Emery was married to actor Josh Pais. They have a son named Zane. Zane even acted with his mother in the movie Margot at the Wedding.
