Joshua Atwill Pais (born June 21, 1958) is an American actor and acting coach. He is known for his roles in movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (where he played Raphael) and Music of the Heart. He has also appeared in many TV shows, including Ray Donovan. Besides acting, Josh Pais helps other actors improve their skills as an acting coach.
Early Life
Josh Pais was born in New York City. His mother, Lila Lee, was a painter and poet. His father, Abraham Pais, was a famous physicist and writer from the Netherlands. A physicist is a scientist who studies how the universe works, from tiny particles to giant galaxies.
His Acting Career
Josh Pais has been in many Hollywood films. One of his most famous roles was in the 1990 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was both inside the Raphael costume and provided the voice for the character.
He also appeared in movies like Music of the Heart, Scream 3, and Phone Booth. On television, he played Assistant M.E. Borak in the series Law & Order for many years. He also had a recurring role as a movie producer in the crime drama Ray Donovan.
Besides acting, Josh Pais directed a documentary film called 7th Street in 2002. This film showed the lives of different people living on the street where he grew up.
Family Life
Josh Pais married actress Lisa Emery in 1990. They have a son named Zane Pais, who is also an actor. Josh and Lisa divorced in 2003. Later, in 2006, Josh Pais married entrepreneur Marie Forleo.
