Lisette Melendez's Music Career
Lisette Melendez started her music journey in 1988. She sang backing vocals for a dance music producer named Carlos Berrios. He had also worked with other popular groups like Sweet Sensation. After touring dance clubs for a few years, she recorded her first big song, "Together Forever." This song was produced by Carlos Berrios and Frankie Cutlass. Soon after, she released a full album with Fever/Columbia Records.
Music in the 1990s
Lisette released four more albums after her first one. Her second album, True to Life, came out in 1994. This album featured the song "Goody Goody," which reached number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another song from the album, "Will You Ever Save Me," reached number 38 on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart. True to Life was very popular in Japan.
In 1998, Lisette released her third album, Un Poco De Mi. This album was different because it was a salsa album sung completely in Spanish. A song from this album, "Algo de Mi," became a hit. It reached number 8 on the Latin Tropical/Salsa Airplay chart. Later in 1998, she released her fourth album, Imagination. The main song from this album was "Time Passes By," but it did not become as popular as her earlier hits.
Music in the 2000s and Beyond
In 2005, Lisette Melendez worked with another freestyle singer named Cynthia. They formed a duo called Liscyn and released a song called "I Can't Change Your Mind." Lisette continued to perform and tour.
In 2008, she teamed up again with music producer Carlos "After Dark" Berrios. They created two new songs, "I Need a Lover" and "Don't Ever Say," which appeared on albums called Don't Look Back Sessions One & Two.
Lisette also performed at a concert event called "I Love Freestyle Vol. 1 Live Concert" in 2015. This concert took place in Buffalo, New York. She performed alongside other freestyle artists like Jade Starling and Lisa Lisa.
