Kids Encyclopedia Facts

A Bien de Interés Cultural (say: Bee-en day EEN-teh-res Kool-too-RAL) is a special title given to important historical or cultural places in Spain. It means "Property of Cultural Interest." These places are protected by law because they are very valuable to Spain's history and heritage.

This article lists some of these amazing landmarks found in Gipuzkoa, a region in northern Spain. They include old buildings, churches, caves, and even parts of ancient paths!

Important Landmarks Across Different Towns

Some landmarks are so big or important that they stretch across many towns.

The Camino de Santiago, or "Way of St. James," is a famous network of pilgrim routes. People have walked these paths for hundreds of years to reach the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. A part of this historic path goes through Gipuzkoa. It's not just one building, but the whole route is considered a special cultural site.
