Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Jiminy Cricket, the wise and friendly Pinocchio's conscience, starred in several educational TV series. These shows first appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club. Jiminy taught kids about science, safety, and how important it is to learn. He also showed how much fun reading books can be! Some of these series, like I'm No Fool and You, were later updated. They were shown in schools and sometimes on the Disney Channel.

Learning with Jiminy Cricket: I'm No Fool Series

This series taught kids how to be safe and make smart choices. Each episode was short, less than 10 minutes long. They all started and ended with a catchy song called "I'm No Fool." The song's words at the end would remind you of the lesson learned.

Jiminy would draw characters on a black board with chalk. These drawings would then come to life! They would often get into tricky situations. Jiminy would then guide them to do the right thing.

Just like the I'm No Fool series, Jiminy Cricket helped kids learn. This time, he taught all about the amazing human body.

Exploring Nature: Nature of Things Series

In this series, Jiminy Cricket taught children about animals and the natural world. It was similar to the I'm No Fool series in how Jiminy explained things.

This series often used real-life animal footage. This footage came from Disney's True-Life Adventures films. So, while Jiminy introduced the topic, most of the episode showed real animals in their habitats. This series was also known as Animal Autobiography.

Learning to Spell: Encyclopedia Series

This series focused on teaching children how to spell. It also helped them learn general knowledge. It had a very catchy theme song. Many children learned to spell "encyclopedia" thanks to this song!

At least five or six shorts in this series featured Jiminy Cricket. There were also nine other Mickey Mouse Club Newsreel Specials under the Encyclopedia name. However, Jiminy Cricket did not appear in those.

Jiminy Cricket's Educational Film

In 1984, Disney released a special film called Jiminy Cricket, P.S. (Problem Solver). This 10-minute film used animation from other Disney shorts. It also featured other famous characters like Goofy, Donald Duck, and Ludwig Von Drake. It was first released on VHS.
