Kent Street Senior High School
Kent Street Senior High School in Kensington first opened its doors in 1939. It was also called Kent Street Central School before becoming a high school. The school building has a special look, built in the Inter-War Free Classical style. It even has some cool Art Deco designs!
Windmill & Wishing Well
You can find the Windmill & Wishing Well on Albany Highway in Victoria Park. It was built in 1939. This spot is also known as the Brisbane + Wunderlich Windmill & Wishing Well. It's a rare example of a private business showing off its products in a landscaped display right by a public road. It's a unique piece of local history!
Victoria Park Primary School
Victoria Park Primary School, located on Albany Highway, has been teaching students since 1894. What makes this school special is that it's a rare example of a two-storey school building in a suburban area. It has seen many generations of students pass through its doors.
Broken Hill Hotel
The Broken Hill Hotel, built in 1897, stands proudly on Albany Highway. This historic hotel was designed in the Federation Free Classical style. It's even more interesting because it was designed by Robert Thompson McMaster, who was the very first mayor of Victoria Park!
Victoria Park Post Office
The Victoria Park Post Office was built in 1913 on Albany Highway. This building is a great example of the Federation Free style of architecture. It was designed under the guidance of the chief architect at the time, Hillson Beasley. It served as an important communication hub for the community.
Victoria Park Police Station
Close by, on Albany Highway, is the Victoria Park Police Station, which was built in 1908. Like the Post Office, it was also designed in the Federation Free style by chief architect Hillson Beasley. This building has been a key part of keeping the community safe for over a century.
St Peter's Anglican Church & Memorial Hall
St Peter's Anglican Church & Memorial Hall, located on Leonard Street, was built in 1935. This church has a distinctive look, built in the Inter-War Romanesque style. It has been a place of worship and community gatherings for many years.
