ThunderCats is an American animated cartoon show made by Rankin/Bass Productions. It's about a group of cat-like humanoids who leave their dying planet, Thundera, and crash-land on a new world called Third Earth. They become heroes, fighting against evil forces like Mumm-Ra and the Mutants.

The first season had 65 episodes. This was a common number for animated shows back then, as it meant they could be shown every weekday for about three months. In 1986, a TV movie called ThunderCats - Ho! was released. It was later split into five episodes and added to the reruns of Season 1. The second season had 60 episodes and was shown as three smaller seasons between 1987 and 1989. Each of these smaller seasons started with a five-part story that introduced new ideas and characters.

You can find the whole series on DVD in two box-sets. The first part of Season 1 had a small problem: one episode was missing its background music. A corrected version was later released. The episodes on DVD are in the order they were first shown on TV. However, this order isn't always the best for following the story. Sometimes, events or characters appear out of order. This mostly happens in the second half of Season 1, especially with the "Lion-O's Anointment" mini-series, which was originally spread out instead of being shown on consecutive days. When the show was re-aired on Cartoon Network years later, they tried to show the episodes in a more correct story order.
