Minnesota became a state in the U.S. on May 11, 1858. Since then, 44 different people have served as a U.S. Senator for Minnesota. A U.S. Senator is an elected official who represents their state in the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. They help create and vote on laws for the whole country.
