Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Disc golf is a super fun sport that's a lot like regular golf, but instead of hitting a ball with a club, you throw a special disc (like a frisbee!) into a target basket. It's a great way to get outside, get some exercise, and hang out with friends. Alberta is a fantastic place to play disc golf, with many courses spread across the province.

As of July 2023, there are 70 official disc golf courses listed in Alberta by the PDGA. About half of these, 35 courses, are full-sized with 18 holes or more. This means there are lots of options for both quick games and longer, more challenging rounds!

Another popular disc golf app, UDisc, lists even more courses in Alberta, with a total of 137. This makes Alberta the 3rd best province in Canada for disc golf courses! Out of these, 52 courses have 18 or more holes. Alberta also has many disc golf leagues where you can play competitively or just for fun, and plenty of stores to buy your gear.
