How Districts are Managed
Each district in Jharkhand is like a mini-government area. It's looked after by a main officer called a District Magistrate or Deputy Commissioner. This person is a very important officer from the Indian Administrative Service. They make sure everything runs smoothly, from schools to roads.
The District Magistrate gets help from many other officers. These officers work in different parts of the state's government. They all work together to serve the people.
There's also a Superintendent of Police in each district. This officer is from the Indian Police Service. Their main job is to keep everyone safe and make sure laws are followed. They are in charge of the police force in that district.
How Jharkhand's Districts Grew
When Jharkhand first became a state, it had 18 districts. Over time, the government decided to make some changes. They created six more districts by dividing up the existing ones.
The very last two districts to be created were Khunti and Ramgarh. These two new districts were formed on September 12, 2007. This brought the total number of districts in Jharkhand to 24.
How Districts are Organized
The 24 districts of Jharkhand are grouped into 5 bigger areas called divisions. This helps to manage them better. Each division has its own main office, called a headquarters.
