Leaders of Central America
Early Leaders: Political Chiefs and Triumvirates
After Central America became independent, it was first led by "Superior Political Chiefs." Then, groups of three leaders, called "Triumvirates," took charge.
Superior Political Chiefs
- Gabino Gaínza was the first leader. He served from September 15, 1821, to January 5, 1822.
- After this, Central America was part of the First Mexican Empire for a while.
- José Matías Delgado then served briefly from July 1 to July 10, 1823.
First Triumvirate
From July 10 to October 4, 1823, three people led together:
- Pedro Molina Mazariegos
- Antonio Rivera Cabezas
- Juan Vicente Villacorta Díaz
Second Triumvirate
Another group of leaders, the Second Triumvirate, served from October 4, 1823, to April 29, 1825. Several people were part of this group at different times:
- Tomas O'Horan
- José Santiago Milla Pineda Arriaga
- Juan Vicente Villacorta Díaz (who also served in the First Triumvirate)
- José Cecilio del Valle
- Manuel José Arce
- José Manuel de la Cerda y Aguilar
