The Prime Minister of Qatar is a very important leader in the country of Qatar. This person is the second most powerful official, right after the Emir of Qatar. The Prime Minister is in charge of the Government of Qatar, making sure the country runs smoothly.
The role of Prime Minister was created on May 29, 1970. The first person to hold this job was Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. He was also the Emir of Qatar at the time, starting from February 22, 1972. He served as Prime Minister until June 27, 1995, when his son, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, took over the leadership.
Later, on January 28, 2020, Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani became the Prime Minister after Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani stepped down. In March 2023, Khalid also resigned, and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
