The Prime Minister of the State of Qatar is the head of the Government of Qatar. This person is the second most important leader in the country, after the Emir of Qatar. The Prime Minister's main job is to help run the country's government and manage its daily tasks.
The position of Prime Minister was created on May 29, 1970. The very first person to hold this title was Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. He was also the Emir of Qatar at the time. He served as Prime Minister until June 27, 1995, when his son, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, became the new leader of the country.
The current Prime Minister is Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. He was appointed on March 7, 2023.
