Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas, is known for its interesting buildings. Over the years, the city's skyline has grown taller and taller. A skyline is how a city looks against the sky, especially when you see all its tall buildings together. This article will tell you about the tallest buildings in Little Rock and how they changed over time.
The first tall buildings that started to shape Little Rock's skyline appeared in 1968. These were the Worthen Bank building and the Union National Bank building. The Worthen building reached 375 feet high. The Union National building was 331 feet tall. Both were taller than the Tower Building, which was 300 feet and the tallest at that time.
In 1975, the First National Bank building was finished. It stood at 454 feet and had 30 stories. This made it the tallest building in Little Rock for a while.
Then, in 1986, two more very tall buildings were completed. One was the TCBY Tower, which was 547 feet tall and had 40 stories. The other was the Rogers building, at 365 feet and 25 stories. The TCBY Tower was later renamed the Metropolitan National Bank Tower in 2004. In 2014, it was renamed again to Simmons Tower after Simmons Bank bought Metropolitan National Bank. The Simmons Tower is still the tallest building in Little Rock today!
