Lit Espresso Bar is a popular cafe in Toronto, Canada. It was started in 2008 by Joe Angellotti. The first cafe opened in the cozy Roncesvalles Avenue neighborhood.
After the first cafe became successful, Joe's sister, Nicole Angellotti, joined him. They opened a second location at College and Ossington. Joe Angellotti later started a new business called Pig Iron Roasters. This company now supplies all the coffee beans to Lit Espresso Bar cafes.

Being Part of the Coffee Community
Nicole Angellotti helps plan the Central Canadian Barista Competition. This is a big event where coffee makers show off their skills. Lit Espresso Bar also teaches classes for anyone who wants to learn about making espresso. Their team even competes in major coffee contests like the Brewers Cup, Tasters Cup, and National Barista Competitions.

Canada's Top Coffee Brewer
In April 2013, Joshua Tarlo, who was a barista and in charge of coffee quality at Lit Espresso Bar, won a major award. He was named Canada's top coffee brewer at the Canadian Brewers Cup in Ottawa, Ontario.
Joshua Tarlo then went on to represent Canada at the World Brewers Cup in Melbourne, Australia. This international competition took place from May 23 to 26, 2013. For his winning brew, Tarlo used special Kemgin beans. These beans were grown in Oromia, Ethiopia, and roasted at Pig Iron Coffee Roasters in Mississauga, Ontario. Joshua Tarlo did very well at the World Brewers Cup, placing third in the world in May 2013.
