Lita Spena (born October 4, 1904 – died 1989) was an important Argentine composer, musician, and teacher. She was known for using traditional Argentine folk music in her own compositions.
Lita Spena grew up in a very musical family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her father, Lorenzo Spena, was also a composer. He moved to Buenos Aires from Naples, Italy, in 1901. He even started a music school called the Clementi Conservatory and wrote at least two operas.

Lita Spena's Musical Journey
Lita began learning music from her parents when she was a child. Later, she studied at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Argentina. She eventually became a teacher there herself. Some of her students became famous musicians, like Ruben Ferrero and Waldo de los Rios.
In 1929, Lita Spena helped create a music group called the Argentine Trio. She performed with this group, sharing her musical talents with many people.

Lita Spena loved to use themes and melodies from traditional Argentine folk songs in her music. This made her compositions sound very unique and connected to her country's heritage. She wrote songs using words by different authors, including German Berdiales and Alfredo R. Bufano.
