About the Northern Dwarf Tree Frog

What Does It Look Like?

Adult northern dwarf tree frogs are quite small. They usually grow to about 3 centimeters long. They have a bright green body with a shiny bronze stripe. This stripe runs over each eye and goes down their sides. Below the bronze stripe, there is a white stripe. Their front feet have a little bit of webbing, and their back feet have more webbing. Young frogs start out brown, but they turn green as they get older.

Where Do They Live?

These frogs love to live in wet places. You can find them in wetlands that have lots of plants. Sometimes, they even live close to where people are. They need these plants for shelter and to lay their eggs.

Life Cycle and Reproduction

Northern dwarf tree frogs lay their eggs in small groups. They attach these eggs to plants that are just under the water's surface. The tadpoles, which are baby frogs, can grow up to 5 centimeters long. It takes about two and a half months for the tadpoles to change into tiny frogs. This process is called metamorphosis.
