Little Red Tractor is a fun British TV show made for children. It was created by the Little Entertainment Company and Entertainment Rights. The show's short episodes, each about ten minutes long, were shown in the UK on the BBC's CBeebies channel.

This series uses a special kind of animation called stop motion. This means that models are moved tiny bits at a time and photographed, making them look like they are moving on their own! The show is known for its really detailed sets and models. The voices of the characters are done by famous actors like Stephen Tompkinson and Derek Griffiths. The stories in the show are based on books written by Colin Reeder. It's mainly for younger children, but anyone can enjoy the adventures of Little Red Tractor!

Characters in Little Red Tractor

Here are some of the main characters you'll meet in the show:

  • Stan – He is Little Red Tractor's best friend and driver. Stan lives at Gosling Farm, where he takes care of two cows named Daisy and Veronica, and two pigs. Stephen Tompkinson is the voice of Stan.
  • Little Red Tractor (leader) – This is the main character! He's a small, old, but very dependable farm tractor. Even though he can't talk, he shows his feelings clearly. Stan fixed him up to look brand new.
  • Patch – Stan's loyal dog. He's always by Stan's side.
  • Mr. Jones – Stan's neighbor who lives at Beech Farm. He owns Big Blue Tractor and Harvey. Mr. Jones can sometimes seem a bit selfish or proud, but he's usually just a bit clumsy in social situations rather than truly mean. His full name is Mr. Jasper Jones, and Derek Griffiths provides his voice.
  • Big Blue Tractor (co-leader) – This is a big, modern farm tractor owned by Mr. Jones. He doesn't have human-like traits, but he can honk his horn by himself!
  • Harvey – A combine harvester that belongs to Mr. Jones. Stan sometimes borrows Harvey to help with farm work.
  • Thomas – Mr. Jones' nephew. He sometimes stays at Beech Farm after his mom moved back to the countryside. Thomas is learning to enjoy country life, which he first thought was dirty and not as good as computer games.
  • Stumpy – The friendly and slightly quirky miller. He drives his quadbike called "Nipper" in a funny way. Stumpy also plays music in Walter's band.
  • Elsie – Stumpy's wife.
  • Nipper – Stumpy's quadbike.
  • Ryan – A child who lives near Stan. He and his sister love to play with Little Red Tractor and help out on the farm.
  • Amy – Ryan's sister.
  • Mr Turvey – Ryan and Amy's father. He enjoys running and plays the keyboard in Walter's band.
  • Mrs Turvey – Ryan and Amy's mother. She loves to paint and do arts and crafts.
  • Walter – He runs the Babblebrook garage and loves rock and roll music. Walter is the lead singer and plays guitar for his band, "Walter and the Wolverines."
  • Nicola – Walter's daughter. She also works at the garage and is usually much more sensible than her dad. Nicola also plays an instrument in her father's band.
  • Leo – Walter's nephew. He becomes friends with Ryan and Amy. Leo is a very good drummer and sometimes fills in for Nicola in Walter's Band.
  • Sparky – The tow truck that Nicola and Walter drive.
  • Rusty – Walter's old car. It's a project he's trying to restore, but it often breaks down!
