The Little Six Casino is a fun place where people can play games. It is owned and run by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. This community is a Native American tribe located in Prior Lake, Minnesota, which is southwest of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area.

The casino offers many types of games, including slot machines and live blackjack tables. Together with the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is a very important employer. They employ over 4,100 people, making them the largest employer in Scott County.

The casino gets its name from Little Six. He was an important leader during the Dakota War of 1862. Little Six Casino also has a sister casino called Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.

History of Little Six Casino

The Little Six Casino is owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). This community is a federally recognized, sovereign Indian tribe. This means they have their own government and can make many of their own laws.

The SMSC first opened a place called Little Six Bingo in October 1982. This was a popular spot for bingo games. Later, in 1988, a new federal law was passed. It was called the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. This law helped Native American tribes open and run gaming businesses on their lands.

Because of this new law, Little Six Bingo changed. In 1990, it became the Little Six Casino. This happened after the SMSC and the State of Minnesota agreed on how the games would be run. The casino moved into its current, newer building in 2007.

Awards and Recognition

The SMSC Gaming Enterprise manages both Little Six Casino and Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. This enterprise has received several important awards. These awards show that it is a great place to work.
