Lizelia is a small, quiet place in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a settled area where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would.
Where is Lizelia?
Lizelia is located about 12 miles (which is about 19 kilometers) north of a larger city called Meridian. You can find it along Mississippi Highway 39. A small stream called Ponta Creek also flows through the area, adding to its natural setting.
A Glimpse into History
Interestingly, Lizelia is built on the land where an older town, once known as Daleville, used to be. It's cool to think about how places can change names or locations over time! Lizelia even had its own post office for a while. It was open from 1886 until 1911. Having a post office shows that Lizelia was an active and recognized community during those years.
