Lizzie the Lizard facts for kids
Lizzie the Lizard was a fun children's TV show that aired on ITV from 1989 to 1991. It had four seasons, also called "series." Each season had 20 episodes. The show followed Lizzie the Lizard and her best friends, Patrick the Pig and Geoffrey the Donkey.
About half of the episodes showed the friends finding something new and then learning all about it. The other half focused on their everyday lives. You would see them at school, at home, or playing in the forest. There was also a special Christmas episode in 1990.

Meet the Characters in Lizzie the Lizard
Besides Lizzie, Patrick, and Geoffrey, there were other memorable characters in the show.
Lizzie's Family and Friends
- Lizard Lady's Man John was a boy who really liked Lizzie.
- Lizard Sister Catherine was Lizzie's older sister. She loved clothes and talking about boys.
- Lizard Mum Mary was Lizzie's mom. She enjoyed knitting and was blind.
New Characters in Later Seasons
- Jumping Jackie the Lion joined in Season 2. She was a dance teacher at the school. Jackie often gave the friends lots of exercises. In one episode, the gang played a trick on her with green slime! She later appeared in Season 3's school play as a princess.
- Mr. Nay the Grumpy Horse became a regular in Season 3. He was a teacher who often fell asleep. He wasn't very smart. Mr. Nay's last appearance was in the final episode. He tried to stop Lizzie and her friends from going to a disco. But John convinced him to let them in.
The Batty Owl in Season 4
In Season 4, a strange old owl appeared for five episodes. This owl tried to kidnap Patrick the Pig! She wanted to make "Pig Soup." Luckily, in Episode 5, the owl was finally caught and put in prison. The friends even helped the police by investigating what the police were and then contacting them.
Songs from the Show
Every episode of Lizzie the Lizard featured some catchy songs.
- The Morning Boogie was a song played at the start of each episode.
- What's A.... was another repeated song.
- A brand new song was featured at the end of every episode.
The Final Episode of Lizzie the Lizard
The very last episode was a touching one. Lizzie and her friends were finishing school. They said goodbye to each other, and Lizzie was getting ready to move away.
But John stopped her boat just in time! He told Lizzie how much he cared about her. In the end, they decided to stay together and later had a family of their own with baby lizards. The show ended with a song. This song shared the main message of the show: everything will be okay if you have good friends by your side. The final scene showed the cast walking off into the sunset.
