Lloyd Searwar helped share the stories and history of Guyana. In 1998, a book he put together was published by Peepal Tree Press. It was called They Came in Ships: an Anthology of Indo-Guyanese Writing.
What the Book is About
This special book is a collection of stories and poems. It shows how people from India came to Guyana and the Caribbean. It also explains how their arrival changed the culture of these places. Over 150 years, these Indian settlers became known as Indo-Guyanese, creating a unique part of the country's heritage.
