Dr. Lloyd Walton, born on November 23, 1953, is a former American basketball player. He grew up in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and became known for his skills as a point guard. After his playing career, he dedicated his time to helping others, both in basketball and in public service.

Lloyd Walton's Basketball Journey

High School and College Star

Lloyd Walton played basketball at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago. He was so good that he was named a Parade Magazine All-American in 1971. This means he was recognized as one of the best high school players in the country.

After high school, Lloyd went to Marquette University. There, he played for the famous coach Al McGuire. Lloyd was named a 2nd team All-American during his college years, showing he was one of the top college players too.

Playing in the NBA

In 1976, Lloyd Walton was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA draft. He played for the Bucks from 1977 to 1980. As a 6-foot-1-inch point guard, his job was to lead the team's offense and set up plays.

Later, he also played for the Kansas City Kings during the 1980–81 season. He played in the NBA for a total of five seasons.

Life After Playing Basketball

After retiring as a player, Lloyd Walton continued to be involved in basketball. He used his experience to help other players and teams.

Coaching and Scouting Roles

Lloyd served as an Assistant Coach at Marquette University under Coach Rick Majerus. He also worked as a scout for the New York Knicks, helping them find new talent. He even coached in the Continental League for the LaCrosse Bobcats.

Helping the Community

Beyond basketball, Lloyd Walton has held important jobs in public service. He was a Bureau Chief for the Illinois Department of Human Services. He also led two important organizations in Chicago: The James Jordan Boys & Girls Club & Family Life Center and the Washington Park YMCA. Supporting NBA Players

Today, Lloyd is a senior career counselor for the National Basketball Players Association. This organization helps NBA players with their careers and life after basketball. Lloyd has spent thousands of hours counseling players.

In 2009, he started his own company called Life Long Winners LLC Consulting. This company helps athletes with life coaching, planning for their future, and motivational speaking. It teaches them how to be "Life Long Winners" both on and off the court.

An Amazing Education

Lloyd Walton is also very dedicated to learning. In 2015, he earned his Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University. This is a huge achievement! It makes him one of only three players in NBA history to reach this high level of education. In 2018, he also became a certified life coach.
