Local, Missouri facts for kids
Local is a small place in Jefferson County, in the state of Missouri, USA. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the county government.
A Glimpse into Local's Past
Local once had its own post office! It opened in 1887. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for about 17 years, closing its doors in 1904. The reason why this community was named "Local" is a bit of a mystery, as records don't clearly explain it.
