Loch Loch is a quiet, freshwater loch (a Scottish word for lake). It is found in Glen Loch in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. This beautiful loch is about 9.5 miles north of Pitlochry. It is also located within an area known as the Forest of Atholl, which is a large, historic hunting forest.
Exploring Loch Loch's Location
Loch Loch is surrounded by wild and mountainous scenery. It has very steep hills on both sides. To the west, you'll find Beinn a' Ghlò, a famous mountain range. On the east, there are the steep rock faces, or crags, of Craig an loch.
How the Loch Was Formed
Much of the shoreline of Loch Loch is made up of mounds of gravelly material called moraine. This moraine was left behind by glaciers long ago. These piles of rock and dirt form the noticeable points along the loch's edges.
Water Flow and Shape
The water from Loch Loch flows northwards into a small stream called the An Lochain. This stream then joins the River Tilt. The River Tilt also gets water from Loch Tilt, which is at the very top of the glen (a narrow valley).
Loch Loch is shaped long and narrow, running from north to south. It almost looks like two separate lochs because there's a narrow, squeezed part in the middle that divides it into two sections.
