Lock Port is a small place in Ohio, a state in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of Williams County.
History of Lock Port
Lock Port has a simple but interesting past. In 1834, a special building called a sawmill was built there. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber. This lumber was used to build homes and other structures.
A few years later, in 1837, a post office opened in Lock Port. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. This post office helped the community stay connected. It served the people of Lock Port for many years. However, it closed down in 1876.
