London Bridge is a small area, or an "unincorporated community," located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in the United States. It is found where Great Neck Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard meet, and where Laskin Road starts.
History of London Bridge
Long ago, London Bridge was a small town with its own post office. This was when it was part of Princess Anne County. In 1963, Princess Anne County and Virginia Beach decided to join together. After this, London Bridge became part of the larger city of Virginia Beach.
The old post office building was located in a place called London Mews. Today, this area is known as Chambord Commons. You can even find the Le Chambord Restaurant there now.
The Actual London Bridge
The name "London Bridge" comes from a real bridge in the area. This bridge is located on Virginia Beach Boulevard. It crosses over a waterway called London Bridge Creek. This creek is part of the larger Lynnhaven River, which eventually flows into Lynnhaven Bay.
This location was once very important for trade. A company called the London Company owned and operated a trading post right here. This trading post was a place where people could buy and sell goods.
