Lophocereus is a group of cacti. These plants are known for their tall, column-like stems. For a long time, scientists thought Lophocereus was part of another cactus group called Pachycereus. However, in 2019, after new studies, experts decided that Lophocereus should be its own separate group. This decision was accepted by a major plant database called Plants of the World Online in March 2021.
