From Exeter Station to Lorane

Originally, this area was known as Exeter Station. This name was used until a big train accident happened in 1899. After this event, the community decided to change its name.

The new name, Lorane, probably came from the region of Lorraine in France.

Post Office Operations

A post office first opened in Exeter Station in 1861. When the name changed to Lorane in 1900, the post office changed its name too. It continued to serve the community until it closed in 1955.
