Lord George Charles Gordon-Lennox (born Lennox; 22 October 1829 – 22 February 1877) was a British politician. He was a member of the Conservative Party, which is one of the main political groups in the United Kingdom.

His Family and Early Life

Lord George Charles Gordon-Lennox was the fifth son of Charles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond. His mother was Lady Caroline. He had several older brothers, including Charles Gordon-Lennox, 6th Duke of Richmond, Lord Henry Lennox, and Lord Alexander Gordon-Lennox.

When Lord George was born, his family's last name was simply Lennox. However, his father later inherited some land and property from an uncle named George Gordon. Because of this, his father decided to add "Gordon" to the family name. So, in 1836, the family officially became Gordon-Lennox.

His Work as a Politician

Lord George Charles Gordon-Lennox became a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is someone elected by people to represent them and make decisions in the British government. He represented the area called Lymington. He served as an MP for many years, from 1860 to 1874.

Besides his political work, Lord George also served in the military. He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Horse Guards, which is a famous part of the British Army.

His Later Life

In 1875, Lord George Charles Gordon-Lennox married Minnie Augusta. She was the daughter of William Henry Palmer. Minnie had been married before, and her first husband was Edwin Adolphus Cook. Lord George and Minnie did not have any children together.

Lord George Charles Gordon-Lennox passed away in February 1877. He was 47 years old. His wife, Lady George Gordon-Lennox, lived for many more years and remained a widow until her death in September 1913.
