Lorne Saxberg (born August 6, 1958 – died May 6, 2006) was a well-known Canadian journalist. He worked in broadcasting for CBC Radio and CBC Newsworld. Lorne was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was known for his calm voice and sharp mind.

Lorne Saxberg's Career in Broadcasting
Lorne Saxberg started his career at CBC Radio. He hosted a show called Ontario Morning in the late 1980s. People remembered him for his clear and pleasant voice. A fellow broadcaster, James Careless, said Lorne was a "class act." This means he was professional and kind.
Becoming a TV News Anchor
In 1989, Lorne joined CBC Newsworld. This was a new TV news channel at the time. He became one of its first anchors. He was very good at his job. Producers said he could report any story. He always used the right tone, whether it was about a war or a panda's birth.

Lorne Saxberg loved to visit his family. They owned a general store in Silver Islet. This is a small town. His family bought the store in 1987. When Lorne was home, he often helped out at the store. He also worked as the harbourmaster for the summer resort town. A harbourmaster manages a port or harbour.
