Los Negrales is a residential area in Spain. It's located near the city of Madrid, close to the beautiful Sierra de Guadarrama mountains. It's close to the mountains for nature lovers. It's also near the center of Collado Villalba. This makes it easy to go shopping or find fun things to do.
Los Negrales has many useful places for its residents. There's a church, public schools, and a sports center. You can also find a municipal park and a pharmacy. The area is split into two main parts. One is called Los Negrales (the neighborhood itself). The other is Colony Fuentellana. The train station is located in Colony Fuentellana. A main road, Reina Victoria Avenue, separates these two parts.
Getting Around Los Negrales
It's easy to travel to and from Los Negrales. There are public buses that serve the area. It also has its own train station! This station is called Los Negrales. It's part of the C-8b line of Cercanías Madrid trains. The station is actually located in the town of Alpedrete.
Major roads also pass by Los Negrales. The Autopista del Noroeste (a highway) runs north of the area. So does the Carretera Nacional N-VI highway. Another important road, M-510, runs along the western side of Los Negrales. All three of these roads meet in the northwest part of the area.
What's in a Name?
The name Los Negrales comes from a nearby forest. This forest is full of black pine trees. In Spanish, these trees are called pino negral. That's where the name comes from!
Los Negrales also celebrates its patron saint. This is Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Every year, on July 16th, a special procession is held to honor her.
The area is home to several religious groups and institutions. There is an Augustine college. There's also a Theresian institution. A community of the Claretians lives here too. And you can find a hall for Jehovah's Witnesses.
