Lost Dauphin Park is a cool park located in Brown County, Wisconsin. It sits on land where a man named Eleazer Williams lived in the mid-1800s. Some people believed he was the "Lost Dauphin" of France, a prince who disappeared during the French Revolution.

This park became a state park in 1947. Later, it was removed from the official list of state parks. However, the land still belongs to the state of Wisconsin.

Where is Lost Dauphin Park?

This park is found in a beautiful spot overlooking the Fox River. It is located on Brown County Highway D. This road is also known as Lost Dauphin Road. You can find the park along the north side of the river.

History of the Park

Lost Dauphin Park officially became a state park in 1947. This meant it was managed by the state and had special protections.

However, in the 1970s, the park's status changed. It was taken off the list of state parks. The house that once stood there also burned down around that time. Even though it's no longer a state park, it is still called Lost Dauphin Park. The land itself remains owned by the state.

What Can You See at the Park?

Lost Dauphin Park offers a lovely experience for visitors. It has a fantastic spot where you can look out over the Fox River. This scenic overlook is a great place to relax and enjoy nature.

You will find a bench where you can sit and take in the views. There is also a shelter, which is perfect for picnics or getting out of the sun. Kids will enjoy the swings available at the park.

The old house that used to be on the property is no longer there. However, you can still see its flagstone foundation. This shows where the house once stood. Since the park is no longer a state park and is managed locally, you do not need a special vehicle admission sticker to visit.
