Louis Guglielmi (born April 3, 1916 – died April 4, 1991) was a talented musician. He was known by his stage name Louiguy. Even though he was born in Spain, he was a French musician with Italian family roots.
Louiguy is famous for writing the music for some very well-known songs. He wrote the melody for Édith Piaf's famous song "La Vie en Rose". He also composed "Cerisier rose et pommier blanc", which became a huge hit in English as "Cherry Pink (and Apple Blossom White)". This song was even turned into a popular mambo dance tune by Pérez Prado.
Louiguy's Life and Music
Louis Guglielmi was born in Barcelona, Spain. He loved music from a young age. He went to a famous music school in Paris, France, called the Conservatoire de Paris. He studied there with other future famous musicians like Maurice Baquet and Henri Dutilleux.
Louiguy was a very busy composer. He wrote music for almost 30 movies! His first film score was for La Rose de la mer in 1946. He also wrote music for the movie Mourir d'aimer (which means To Die of Love) in 1970. One of his last movie scores was for the film Verdict in 1974. Louiguy passed away in Vence, France, just one day after his 75th birthday.
