Why Did It Close?

A new, straighter tunnel was built, and the trains no longer used the old Lapstone Zig Zag section. So, Lucasville Station was no longer needed.

What Can You See Today?

The house, Lucasville, is no longer there. But if you visit the area, you can still find clues. You might see parts of the old gardens and paths that belonged to Mr. Lucas's home. These are just west of the ZigZag walking track.

The station platform itself is still there. It is a solid reminder of the past. Today, the old station is part of the Historic Lapstone Zig Zag walking track. This means you can walk along the old railway line and see the platform where trains once stopped. It's a great way to imagine what travel was like long ago.
