Lucy's Radio Journey
Lucy Horobin studied Broadcast Journalism at Nottingham Trent University. This helped her learn all about working in radio and TV.
Starting in Radio
Lucy began her radio career at Trent FM. She worked with Jason King there. Later, she teamed up with Rich Clarke for an evening show. Their show was called Rich and Luce.
Lucy and Rich then moved to Key 103 radio station. They presented a show called In:Demand. This show later played on many Hits Radio stations across the North of England. It was also heard on The Hits Radio digital station. Lucy left In:Demand in November 2011.
Joining the Heart Radio Network
On 23 January 2012, Lucy and Jason King started presenting Heart Breakfast on Heart Solent. They also began hosting Saturday breakfast shows on the main Heart network from August 2012.
For a short time in August 2012, Lucy and Jason presented Heart Breakfast on Heart London. This was while the regular presenters were away. In January 2013, Lucy and Jason King moved to Heart London full-time. They became the presenters for the weekday drivetime show. They also continued to host the Saturday breakfast show for a while.
Lucy also filled in as a co-host for Jamie Theakston. This was between the time Emma Bunton left and Amanda Holden joined the show.
Recent Radio Work
As of June 2019, Lucy presented the weekday drivetime show on Heart Dance. She also hosted Saturday mid-mornings on the station.
In August 2019, Lucy started working as a stand-in presenter. She covered for Amanda Holden on the new national Heart Breakfast show.
In March 2024, Lucy stepped down from her Saturday mid-morning show on Heart Dance. She is no longer broadcasting on that station.
Charity Work
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lucy joined a group of famous people called The Celebs. This group included Frank Bruno and Sam Bailey. They came together to raise money for two charities: Alzheimer's Society and Action for Children.
They recorded a new version of the song "Merry Christmas Everyone." It was released online on 11 December 2020. The music video was first shown on Good Morning Britain. The song became very popular, reaching number two on the iTunes pop chart.
