Lucy Tulugarjuk was born on February 28, 1975. She is an Inuk-Canadian actress, a talented throat singer, and a director. She is also the executive director for the Nunavut Independent Television Network. Many people around the world know her from her role in the movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Lucy Tulugarjuk has had a very interesting career in film and television. She is known for her acting, directing, and her beautiful throat singing.
Acting Roles
Lucy starred in the 2001 film Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner. This movie was very important and she won an award for Best Actress at the American Indian Film Festival for her role. Later, in 2015, she also acted in the film Maliglutit.
Directing Films
In 2017, Lucy directed her first full-length movie called Tia and Piujuq (which is ᑏᐊ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐱᐅᔪᖅ in the Inuit language). Her own daughter played the main character, Piujuq, in this film.
Lucy also worked with Carol Kunnuk to co-direct, co-write, and co-star in the film Tautuktavuk (What We See). This movie was shown for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023. It won the Amplify Voices Award for Best First Film, which is a big honor!
Throat Singing and Advocacy
Lucy is also a skilled throat singer. This is a traditional form of singing from the Inuit culture. She uses her voice not just for art, but also to speak up for her community. For example, she has supported Inuit culture by wearing traditional seal skin. She also works to protect the Inuit language and way of life.
Lucy Tulugarjuk is the executive director for the Nunavut Independent Television Network. This network is part of Isuma, a company based in Igloolik. In 2021, Isuma started Uvagut TV, which is an online channel that broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This channel shows programs in the Inuktitut language. Lucy is the managing director for Uvagut TV. She believes this channel is a great way to help keep the Inuit language and culture alive and strong for future generations.
