Ludmila Ulehla (pronounced Lood-mee-lah Oo-leh-lah) was an amazing American composer and music educator. She wrote many pieces of music and also taught others how to create their own.

About Ludmila Ulehla

Ludmila Ulehla was born in Flushing, Queens, New York. She started learning piano and violin when she was very young. By the age of five, she was already writing her own short songs!

Later, she studied music composition at the Manhattan School of Music. She earned a master's degree there. In 1947, Ludmila Ulehla began teaching at the same school. She even became the head of the Composition Department from 1972 to 1989. This meant she led the team that taught students how to compose music.

Ludmila Ulehla was recognized as an "Outstanding Educator." She also received awards from ASCAP. She wrote a book called Contemporary Harmony – Romanticism Through the 12-Tone Row. This book helped students learn about different ways to create music.

Ludmila Ulehla wrote many musical pieces. Most of her compositions were for solo instruments or small groups of musicians. Here are some of her well-known works:
