Luis Britto García (born October 9, 1940, in Caracas) is a famous Venezuelan writer. He writes novels, plays, and essays. His stories have won the Casa de Las Américas Prize two times. These awards were for his books Rajatabla (1970) and Abrapalabra (1979). In 2002, he received Venezuela's National Prize for Literature. This award recognized his work throughout his life. In 2005, he also won the Ezequiel Martínez Estrada honorary award. In 2012, he became an advisor to the Venezuelan president.
