Playing for His Country: Ecuador National Team
Saritama was an attacking midfielder. He was chosen to play for the Ecuador national team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany. He played for all of Ecuador's youth national teams. He was even the captain for many of them. This showed his great passing and playmaking skills.
Luis Fernando played his first international game against Peru in 2003. In 2006, he played against Brazil in Sweden. He also played against Mexico in Oakland and the U.S. in Tampa Bay.
Club Career Highlights
Playing for Alianza Lima
In 2004, Saritama played for a short time in Peru with Alianza Lima. He played alongside his teammate Jhonny Baldeón. They both helped Alianza win the Clausura championship that year. In 2007, he returned to the team and played there until the end of the year.
Playing for Deportivo Quito
After helping Alianza Lima win, Saritama went back to Deportivo Quito. He was only 22, but he became the team's captain. This was his main club team in Ecuador. During this time, he played more often for his national team. It became clear that the Ecuador coach wanted him for the World Cup in Germany. In December 2008, he helped Deportivo Quito win their third championship title.
Playing in Mexico: Tigres and Club América
On July 25, 2006, after the FIFA World Cup, Saritama signed with Tigres UANL in Mexico. He was a popular player there. However, the team had a tough season. Saritama scored a few goals, but the coach decided not to keep him in the team's plans.
He then moved to another big Mexican club, Club América, in early 2007. His contract said he would mainly play in Copa Libertadores 2007 games. But the club later let him play in regular league matches too. He scored a goal in January 2007 in his first game for América. This was against a Peruvian team called Sporting Cristal in the Copa Libertadores. After six months, he was loaned to Alianza Lima in Peru. His time with Alianza was good. After that, América loaned him back to his first club, Deportivo Quito.
Playing for LDU Quito
Saritama in 2013
Saritama joined LDU Quito on January 3, 2013. He signed a three-year contract. His first game for LDU Quito was on January 23. It was a 1-0 win against Gremio in the 2013 Copa Libertadores. On April 14, after playing 11 league games, Saritama scored his first goal for LDU Quito. It was in a 3–0 win against Macara.
Playing for Barcelona

On February 11, 2014, it was announced that Saritama would join Barcelona on loan for one year.
Back to Deportivo Quito
After playing for LDU Quito and Barcelona, Saritama returned to his first club, Deportivo Quito. This was confirmed on March 2, 2015.

On January 17, 2019, Saritama joined Independiente Juniors.
