Luiz Carlos Ferreira (born on October 22, 1958), known as Luizinho, is a former Brazilian football player. He was a defender, which means he helped protect his team's goal.

Luizinho's Football Journey

Luizinho played football from 1975 to 1996. He started his career at Villa Nova in Nova Lima. Later, he moved to the city of Belo Horizonte.

Club Success

In Belo Horizonte, Luizinho joined Atlético Mineiro. He played there from 1978 to 1989. During this time, his team won the Mineiro State Championship eight times! This is a big achievement in Brazilian football.

After his time in Brazil, Luizinho played in Portugal. He was with Sporting CP in Lisbon for three years, from 1989 to 1992.

He then returned to Brazil. He joined Cruzeiro and helped them win the Brazilian Cup in 1993. In 1994, he won the Mineiro State Championship again.

Playing for Brazil

Luizinho also played for the Brazil national football team. He represented his country in 32 international matches between 1980 and 1983. He scored two goals for Brazil.

He was part of the Brazilian team in the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. He played in all five of Brazil's matches. One famous game was against Italy, where Italy won and moved on to the semifinals. Even though Brazil lost, Luizinho was recognized for his great play. He was chosen as one of the best players in the tournament for his position.
