Villa Nova Atlético Clube, often called just Villa Nova, is a professional football team from Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, Brazil. They play in two main leagues: the Série D, which is the fourth level of Brazilian football, and the Campeonato Mineiro, which is the top league in their home state of Minas Gerais.

Club History
Villa Nova is one of the oldest football clubs in Minas Gerais. It was started on June 28, 1908. The club was founded in Nova Lima by English factory workers and miners. These workers were from the Morro Velho Mining Inc.
Golden Era: The 1930s
The 1930s were a very successful time for Villa Nova. The team won its first state title in 1932. They then won the first three championships in the professional era. These wins happened in 1933, 1934, and 1935. The yellow star on the club's logo celebrates these important titles.
State Championship Victory in 1951
Villa Nova won the Campeonato Mineiro again in 1951. They beat Atlético Mineiro in the final match. This game was played at Independência. The coach of Villa Nova in 1951 was Martim Francisco. He is known for possibly inventing the 4-2-4 football tactic. This idea was mentioned in a book called 'Inverting The Pyramid' by Jonathan Wilson. The book talks about how football tactics have changed over time.
National Title in 1971
In 1971, Villa Nova achieved a big national win. They won the first-ever Campeonato Brasileiro Série B competition. They defeated Remo in the final game. The green star on their club logo represents this national championship title.
Home Stadium
Villa Nova plays its home games at Estádio Castor Cifuentes. This stadium is also known as "Alçapão do Bonfim". It was first built in 1908 and then rebuilt in 1989. Today, the stadium can hold up to 15,000 people.
