Lupine Award facts for kids
The Lupine Award is a special prize given every year by the Maine Library Association. It celebrates amazing authors and illustrators. To win, an author or illustrator must either live in Maine, have been born there, or write stories that are all about Maine. This award has been given out every year since 1993.
Since 2005, there have been two separate Lupine Awards. One award is for the best picture book, and the other is for the best book for older kids or young adults. The Youth Services Section Interest Group of the Maine Library Association has been giving out this award since 1989. Each year, they choose one winner and one honorable mention in both the picture book and juvenile/young adult categories.
