Lydia Shouleva became a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) on January 1, 2007. This was the same day that Bulgaria officially joined the European Union. As an MEP, she helped make decisions and laws for all countries in the European Union.
She was a member of a political group called the National Movement Simeon II. This group was part of a larger European political family known as the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
