Lytchett Bay is a beautiful bay located near the town of Upton, Dorset in the United Kingdom. It's a great place to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors.

Exploring Lytchett Bay

You can walk from Lytchett Bay all the way to Rockley Park! There's a special path along the shoreline that goes past the Turlin Moor area.

The most exciting parts of Lytchett Bay are often found by going through the Turlin Moor estate. Here, you'll discover amazing saltmarsh areas and small, hidden beaches. If you start walking from the beach where boats are usually kept, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the other side of the bay. Along this walk, you'll go through a small wooded area where you might even spot deer! There's also a lovely meadow that is carefully looked after, and a short, quiet road.

What You Might See

When you reach the far side of Lytchett Bay, you can get closer to the water at two different spots. This gives you a much better view of the many swans and other birds that visit the bay throughout the year. It's a fantastic place for birdwatching! You might also find adders, which are a type of snake, living in some parts of the bay.

Lytchett Bay in the Past

Lytchett Bay was a very popular spot for children back in the 1980s and 1990s. It was common for boats to wash up on the shore during stormy weather. Kids would often find these boats and hide them in the tall reeds, bringing them out to play with during the summer months. It sounds like it was a place full of adventure!
