Mónica's Basketball Journey
Mónica Messa grew up in Madrid, Spain. She started playing basketball at her school, Colegio Alameda de Osuna. Later, she joined the Real Canoe NC club. She played there from a young age.
Winning Championships
Mónica made her debut in the top Spanish league, the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. This is the main women's basketball league in Spain. She helped her team, Real Canoe NC, win three championships in a row. They won in 1984, 1985, and 1986.
After her success, Mónica joined the Caja Toledo - BEX Banco Exterior team. This team was created to help young Spanish players get ready for the 1992 Summer Olympics. She was seen as one of the most promising young players.
Playing for Spain
Mónica Messa started playing for the Spain women's national basketball team when she was 19. She played for the national team for 10 years. From 1985 to 1995, she played in 185 games. She scored an average of 4.3 points per game.
