Munich's First Underground Trains

The MVG Class A trains began their service in 1971. This was when the Munich U-Bahn system first opened. These trains were built to be strong and reliable. They were designed to carry many passengers every day.

Where These Trains Operate

You can find MVG Class A trains on every single line of the Munich U-Bahn. This means they travel all over the city. They help people get to work, school, and other places. Even though they are the oldest trains, they are still very important for daily travel.

How Many Trains Are There

Originally, there were 194 trains of the MVG Class A type. Each train has two cars linked together. Over time, some trains have been taken out of service. About 18 of these trains are no longer in use today. The remaining trains continue to serve Munich's busy underground network.
