Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting (born on November 17, 1950) is a famous film director from Hong Kong. She is one of the most important directors in Hong Kong movies. She is known as one of the few women who became very successful during a time of new and exciting changes in Hong Kong filmmaking.

Mabel Cheung made her first movie in 1985 while she was a student at New York University. She is well-known for making films about people from Hong Kong and overseas Chinese who move to other countries. This was especially important before Hong Kong became part of China in 1997.

Her most famous films are often called the "migration trilogy." These movies are The Illegal Immigrant (1985), An Autumn's Tale (1987), and Eight Taels of Gold (1989). Another very important film in her career is The Soong Sisters (1997). All four of these movies were made with the help of writer Alex Law.

Mabel Cheung also shares her knowledge with others. She is a special teacher at the Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Film. She is also an Honorary University Fellow at the University of Hong Kong. She helps lead the Hong Kong Film Development Council as its Vice-Chairperson.
