Machop Chol's Soccer Journey
Machop Chol was born in Khartoum, Sudan, in 1998. When he was just two years old, his family moved to the United States in 2000. They settled in Clarkston, Georgia. This is where Machop first started playing soccer.
He joined a youth club called DDYSC Wolves. Later, in 2016, he joined the Atlanta United academy. This is a special training program for young players.
Playing College Soccer
In August 2017, Machop started playing college soccer for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons team. He played his first game on August 25 and even scored his first goal in that match. During his time at Wake Forest, Machop scored 13 goals in 65 games.
Joining Atlanta United
On January 19, 2021, Machop Chol signed a special contract with Major League Soccer club Atlanta United. This type of contract is called a "homegrown player" contract. It means he came up through their youth system.
He made his professional debut on April 17 against Orlando City. He came into the game as a substitute player. Machop scored his first goal for Atlanta United in a Major League Soccer game on April 16, 2023, against Toronto FC.
Moving to San Antonio FC
After the 2023 season, Machop left Atlanta United. On April 2, 2024, he signed with San Antonio FC. This team plays in the USL Championship, which is another professional soccer league in the United States.
