What Happens in Madeline's Rescue?
Madeline Meets a New Friend
One day, while out and about, Madeline accidentally falls into the Seine River in Paris. Luckily, a brave stray dog jumps in and saves her! Miss Clavel and the other girls try to find the dog's owner. When they can't, they decide to keep the dog. They name her Genevieve.
Trouble for Genevieve
Soon, the girls start to argue about who gets to spend time with Genevieve. Things get even more complicated when their landlord, Mr. Cucuface, sees Genevieve. He doesn't like animals at all! Mr. Cucuface makes his driver take Genevieve away. This makes Madeline, Miss Clavel, and all the girls very sad. They search everywhere for Genevieve, but they can't find her.
A Happy Surprise
Late that night, Miss Clavel wakes up. She is surprised to find Genevieve standing in the doorway! Everyone is so happy that Genevieve has returned. However, the girls start fighting over Genevieve again. Miss Clavel decides to take Genevieve to her own room. She warns the girls that if they fight one more time, Genevieve will have to be given away. Even later that night, Madeline, the girls, and Miss Clavel discover a wonderful surprise. Genevieve has given birth to eleven tiny puppies!
